Royal Children’s Hospital Neurodevelopment and Disability department

The Neurodevelopment and Disability team at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne are specialists with a range of expertise who promote the highest standards of care for children with developmental disabilities and their families.

We provide care for children with: developmental concerns; cerebral palsy; intellectual disability; autism spectrum disorder; spina bifida and other developmental and long-term disabilities

Dr Clint Pistilli

Dr Clint Pistilli is a generalist psychiatrist with a special interest in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
He completed his specialist training in 2016 through the Sydney Local Health District.

Alfred Health Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Initiative for Youth Service (MHIDI-Y)

The MHIDI-Y service, is part of the Neurodevelopment Stream at Alfred Health, Infant, Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (ICYAMHWS) located in Moorabbin. MHIDI-Y is a specialist clinical mental health service that provides multidisciplinary assessment and treatment with in a case management model to children and young people aged 12 – 25 years living in Melbourne’s local government areas of Port Phillip, Stonnington, Glen Eira, Bayside and Kingston.

Mental Health Intellectual Disability Initiative

The Mental Health Intellectual Disability Initiative – Adult (MHIDI-A), also known as the Stronger Together Program. This is a psychiatrist-led multidisciplinary specialist team within the Monash Health Adult Mental Health Program. The program is for people aged 16 years old and over and residing within the Monash Health Catchment, who have a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability (i.e. IQ < 70) and mental health difficulties. The individual should also have a General Practitioner and/or team responsible for providing continuing care and/or case management.

Monash Transitional Support Unit

The Monash Transitional Support Unit (TSU) is a 10-bed state-wide rehabilitation facility for people with an Intellectual Disability who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and or a neurological disability (including an acquired brain injury or traumatic brain injury), and who require short to medium term (6-12 months) supported residential rehabilitation.  A placement stay to the untit will vary for each consumer due to their individual needs and capacity.  The facility is located in Narre Warren South and is situated in the local community.

Centre for Developmental Disability Health

The Centre for Developmental Disability Health provide secondary consultation. Our our clinicians specialise in the field of developmental and intellectual disability in adults. We assess and provide management strategies for complex presentations including Behaviours of Concern, mental illness, and physical ailments commonly associated with developmental disability.
